We left Cooktown on State Route 40. Diane's first suggestion was to stop at Archer point. Again we didn't go down to the beach but what a view.
We were thinking of seeing Trevethan Falls as we travelled through Daintree but Diane suggested Wujal Wujal Falls instead as Trevethan needed a good hike to get to them whereas Wujal Wujal were just off the road with a close car park. Again lovely and worth the stop.
Up until now the road was single track in places but a road. Once you cross the river at Wujal Wujal, no more. We knew there was a running creek you had to cross as Diane had warned us but by the 5th one we were wondering which was the one she mentioned and then we came to it and my comment was - oh crap!! It wasn't just in and out like the others hehe. I took so many photos but I don't know they captured it well.
The actual track runs from Wujal Wujal to Cape Tribulation and because we weren't in a true 4 WD we decided not to stop on route to see sights such as the Bloomfield Falls as we didn't want to get stuck but here are some shots I captured along the route.
David was both exhilarated and exhausted by the time we pulled into Cape Tribulation. The forest walk out to the view point was also lovely and the animals we saw can be seen on the later kids animals page.
At some point along the route or when we were in one of the car parks, we got a puncture. As we went to leave Cape Tribulation and drive down to the Daintree Ferry we heard the dreaded sound. David was my hero as always. The really annoying bit was we didn't realise until we had left he car park and therefore had to pull over onto the side of the road which was really muddy at the edge. We had to empty the boot of all our boxes etc to get to the spare. David wouldn't let me take photos but I had to sneak a couple - it had to be documented! We got to use our triangle and his high viz jacket.
A bit of a downer on an otherwise brilliant day. Daintree is a lovely part of the world.
